Vampires are undead creatures that sustain their existence on the blood of living humans. They will be fighting the Zombies in the first ever fictional Deadliest Warrior episode in Season 3.

Vampire History

Almost every culture in history has had legends about vampires or vampire-like creatures, from the blood-drinking demons of Sumerian mythology, to the Chupacabra of modern Latin American folklore. The most famous vampires, however, originate from Eastern European folklore. It was believed that especially evil people, or those who had been cursed in some way, would return from the grave as vampires, preying on the living. Only certain methods were believed to be able to destroy a vampire, the most common being thrusting a wooden stake through the heart, and beheading the corpse.

Vampire

Ever since the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker came out in 1897 (based in part on the real-life exploits of Vlad the Impaler), the world has been entranced by vampires in fiction. Vampires first made the leap on to film in 1922 with the release of Nosferatu, and such films as Dracula, The Lost Boys, and Underworld ensure they are here to stay.

Simulated Battle

The battle begins in an abandoned warehouse. Inside, a horde of 189 zombies walks through the building searching for food. Elsewhere, three vampires (two males and a female) rise from their coffins. The middle vampire, apparently the leader, tells the other two to head in opposite directions, the other male vampire going left and the female right. The second male vampire hears the noise created by the zombies and rushes to investigate. He stops at a door and listens. Suddenly, the zombies break through the door, startling the vampire. Regaining his wits, the vampire dispatches two zombies with his claws before fleeing. He soon comes to a large room and soon realizes he's surrounded by zombies. He puts up a great fight, killing over 70 zombies with his claws before being overwhelmed by their sheer numbers. The zombies use their hands to rip open the vampire's chest and feed on his flesh and innards as the still-conscious vampire screeches in pain. The other two vampires hear the sound and run to investigate. They reach the room and watch in horror at the scene, knowing it's too late to help their friend. The zombies eventually reach the vampire's heart, killing him. The other two vampires are forced to flee. They reach a door and open it, but the zombies are on the other side. The vampires struggle to close the door and the head vampire bites the head of the closest zombie, killing it. The vampires finally close the door and flee. The zombies break open the door and pursue the vampires. The vampires eventually become cornered and stand and fight, inflicting heavy casualties on the zombies. One zombie manages to reach the female vampire and bites her neck, but is thrown against the wall and killed in the process. The female vampire kills one more zombie by stomping its head to the floor, but then succumbs to blood loss and dies. The head vampire is left to face 50 zombies on his own. He kills several, but still has problems. Five zombies pile on him at one point, but the vampire throws them off, killing them all. He dispatches about eleven in all before looking around in search of more zombies. With 39 zombies left to destroy, the vampire attempts to flee outside, but realizes the sun is coming up and goes back inside. He fearlessly runs into the last group of zombies and kills them all, eventually reaching the last zombie. The vampire grabs the last zombie and throws him forcefully against a wall, killing the zombie instantly. The vampire looks around to make sure all the zombies are dead, then lifts his hand in the air and roars in victory.

Trivia

  • Along with the Zombies, the Vampires will be the first completely fictional warriors appearing on the show.
  • It's important to note that the program focus on the sanguinarian (blood sucker) type vampire, cases of vampirism in the real world have been reported, dating back to 17th century. In that case, a Hungarian Countess named Erzebet Bathory had girls killed, and many counts points her motive was for their blood to stay looking young. In psychic (energy) vampires , however, tends to go for spiritual energy, or auras, of their targets rather than blood. Due to a lack of reports linking medical needs, unlike a sanguinarian vampire, which illnesses like tuberculosis and the plague, many have question psychic vampires.
  • It's also important to know, daywalkers, vampires and related-species, who have no problem coping with sunlight, weren't featured on the episode.
  • After the vampire's victory, the words "To be continued" flashed across the screen, thus implying a followup episode.
