The Remington 700 bolt-action sniper rifle was the long range weapon the [[SWAT Team]] used in their match against the [[GSG-9]]. It can fire many different cartridges depending upon barrel size. The police version of the rifle fires the .308 Winchester cartridge. The edge was given to the GSG-9's [[HK PSG1]] over the Remington 700 because the PSG1 had a higher rate of fire and was more accurate.

The Remington 700P (Police version) is the basis for about 90% of all police sharpshooter rifles in the United States, and is also very popular with law enforcement agencies abroad and with citizen shooters and hunters. In the incident that led to the creation of the SWAT team, the University of Texas massacre, Charles Whitman used a Remington 700 to kill 13 of his 16 victims.

Although Remington 700 was able to hit the skull target in the left eye socket, the PSG1 was a millimeter more accurate (though it hit the target in the right eye socket instead), winning gaining the edge in the Long Range weapons for [[GSG-9]].
