04 RGD-5

The RGD-5 grenade is a Soviet-made anti-personnel fragmentation grenade, a near certain guarantee for death when it explodes with 4 ounces of TNT and 350 pieces of shrapnel. It was the explosive weapon of the Spetsnaz and Saddam Hussein

Specifications[]

  • Range: 50 yards
  • 4 inches
  • 11 ounces
  • Filling: 110 g TNT
  • Killzone: 3 yards

Uses[]

The RGD-5 was constructed in the Soviet Union, and dates back to the late 1950's. Though not as advanced as many other modern grenades, it is still widely used in many former Warsaw Pact nations at it is relatively inexpensive (costing around $5 US to manufacture) and highly effective.

In show[]

In Spetsnaz vs Green Beret[]

This weapon was tested against the Green Beret's M67 Grenade. The RGD5 was detonated inside of a washing machine surrounded by standees and managed to take out one standee and put a piece of the machine in another standee at 40 feet. The M67 won due to its larger blast radius.

In Back for Blood Special (Spetsnaz vs IRA)[]

The nail bomb and RGD-5 Grenade were reviewed from the season one footage. While the RGD-5 was powerful at a wide range, the Nail Bomb (despite being an improvised weapon) was given the advantage due to the high killing power of its shrapnel.

In Saddam Hussein vs Pol Pot[]

This weapon was tested against Pol Pot's Chinese Stick Grenade in eliminating four targets at phase 1 of the first test. Although both Grenades only killed three targets, the edge was given to the Chinese Stick Grenade for its higher explosive payload and lower risk of rolling off-target.
