A Dead Drop Spike is a device used to pass information or items between two people without them having to meet. A booby-trapped version was the Explosive Weapon of the KGB; a tiny cylinder with a killer twist.
Description[]
The Dead Drop spike is a small, hollow tube with a lid that screws on. A booby trapped version contained a small amount of explosives which will destroy the evidence and most likely blow off the hand holding it. It used Semtex payload and a "fail-deadly tamper" trigger.
Stats[]
- 6 inches
- 2 ounces
- Metal casing & Semtex explosive
Uses[]
A Dead Drop refers to any container designed to be hidden in order to transport important information or resources linked to espionage. The Dead Drop Spike is simply a spike designed to be nailed into soft ground to be hidden from view.
Booby trapping Dead Drop Spikes was a way of ensuring that the information was destroyed if the spike fell in to enemy hands. The trap contained considerable explosive capacity and could decimate (instantly kills them) a victim even when he is just holding the spike in his hand.
Test[]
This weapon was tested against the CIA's Exploding Cigar. The cigar completely destroyed the upper and lower jaw of a gel head but was determined to be very unreliable due to its timed fuse and small explosive payload while the explosive trap concealed in the dead drop spike decimated a mannequin. The edge was given to the dead drop spike for its higher success rate at killing a target with its Semtex payload and "fail-deadly tamper" trigger.
