Bisley

The Colt Bisley is a variation of the legendary Colt Single Action Army revolver (better known as the Colt Peacemaker), a weapon that dealt death to tyrants six bullets at a time. It was the Medium Range weapon of Pancho Villa.

Description[]

  • Range: 50 yards
  • Weight: 1 lbs, 13 oz
  • Length: 11 inches
  • Cartridge: .44-40WCF
  • Action: Single-action revolver
  • Feed System: 6-shot cylinder

Uses[]

The Colt Bisley was introduced in 1894 as a target pistol, although in North America it was more commonly used for self-defense. It can be distinguished from other Colt models by its longer grip, wider hammer spur, and wider trigger, which made it ideal for fast shooting, as well as easier to use for people with various physical handicaps, which made this the ideal weapon for Pancho Villa to use with his arthritic hands.

The .44-40 Winchester rounds could be used for both the Bisley and a Winchester Rifle.

Test[]

In Crazy Horse vs Pancho Villa[]

The Colt Bisley was tested against the 1873 Colt in ballistics performance and eliminating five targets with six rounds without hitting a horse. The Colt Bisley had a muzzle velocity of 1168 fps while the Colt 1873 had a muzzle velocity of 997 fps but caused more internal damage. In the second test, both guns had a 5/6 hit ratio with the 1873 Colt scoring a 3/5 kill ratio in 21s to the Colt Bisley's 2/5 kill ratio in 17s. The edge was given to the 1873 Colt for its longer barrel and higher damage.
