The Chu Ko Nu is a crossbow in which the separate actions of stringing the bow, loading a bolt, and firing can be accomplished with a simple hand motion. It was the Long-Range weapon of Sun Tzu.

Description

The Chu Ko Nu was a crossbow with a narrow wooden box attached to a lever on top of it. The lever restrung the bow, loaded a bolt into the crossbow, and fired it all in one motion. The box (similar in practice to a fixed magazine on some guns) could hold up to 10 bolts.

Uses

Although not as powerful or as accurate as a typical crossbow, it made up for these shortcomings through sheer volume of fire. An archer could fire all ten bolts in 15 seconds and fully reload the magazine in probably less time than it would take to respan an ordinary crossbow.

In Show

It was tested against the Steelcrossbow. While the Steelcrossbow was more accurate, more powerful and, had an effective range almost twice that of the Chu Ko Nu, the Chu Ko Nu had rapid fire capabiltiys and a much fast re-load time, allowing ten times as many bolts to be fired in the same amount of time, this coupled with the fact Steelcrossbow failed to pirce Sun Tzu's armor gave it the edge .
